Soren is born to a prostitute who didn't want him, but found out too late that she was pregnant with him. So she gave birth to him and barely took care of him as she just kept going with her work. She kept bringing clients home despite having a child at home, so since a young age Soren has been exposed to it. He has seen many things happen to his mother during these moments, things he wished he would be able to forget.

At one point in time he just tried to ignore it, till it became too much and he just started to leave the house whenever his mother brought a client home. He started doing this from the young age of twelve. He roamed the streets at night, staying out till he was sure the men would be gone. During this time he got into contact with the bad side of Cerynia, getting into fights and learning how to defend himself in the process. More often than not he came home all beaten, but his mother didn't care.

Then someone offered to take him to a party once, he was fifteen at the time. That was the first time where he could let loose, to empty his thoughts. The alcohol and drugs helped with it and it ended up being the first night he didn't return home and the first night he slept with someone. But the partying and drinking weren't cheap. Despite him having several part time jobs, the money was running out. That was when he was introduced to illegal pokemon battling and the gambling that came with it. He was sixteen years old at the time. He acquired his first pokemon, a Mienfoo, to help him with the battles.

This became normal for him. During the day he went to school, while at night he partied or did some illegal battling and after he spend the night together with someone, not returning home at all for days on end. And when he did return home, his mother either ignored him or asked him for money, since she had spend everything she had earned herself already. Sometime during these parties he met Ruìsāng and a friendship started between the two of them. Being in similar situations, wanting to escape, brought them together. Whenever he was in the mood to head to a party he would ask Sang to come with and this was a common occurrence till recently. For the past few months he hasn't seen Sang at parties or other events. While he himself still often goes to one, seeing as how he still doesn't have enough money to leave his mother's place, because despite him participating in illegal battles, he likes betting on them just as much and sometimes that goes right, sometimes it goes wrong.
