The work on the farm had been fine. He was learning day by day about new things, things that should be mandatory for another other person. His memory was still in scrambles and only the little notebook had been his connection to whatever it was that had been done to him. Now that the days were getting warmer, he was starting to get trouble with hiding his tails. On the farm it wasn't that much of a problem, Cody didn't seem to mind that he had the two extra tails sprouting from his lower back. In the end it made his work a bit lighter.

Now that he was back in the city, it was a different story and he was cursing at himself that he was still wearing his sweater. It was a lighter one then before, but the material still made him sweat everywhere. He had seen on the internet that there was an institute that was specialized in affinities and he had been wondering if they would be able to give him any clues about what is going on.

Still, he felt scared to go inside, pacing before the front door. Anxiously cracking his fingers while wondering if this was a smart idea or not.

Dealing with dumb interns were definitely not the highlight of his day. He had no time to deal with people who were only there to fill their time. He wanted students that actually wanted to learn something. It was for this reason that he almost never took one under his wing. Today was not different.

He had hoped this girl would do better. Her resume had been sublime, her papers she wrote too. But now? Nothing. She had turned out to be a disappointment. And so he fired the girl. He slowly escorted her out. Her eyes were filled with tears as he opened the door. "Sometimes things don't work out, I hope you'll do better in the future." his words were cold. But he was done. Too many people wasted his time lately.

As the girl walked away, he noticed someone pacing nervously in front of the building. "Can I help you?"

While still unsure and uncertain, he looked the building up and down. A shiver went down his spine, making his tails twitch underneath the thin sweater he was wearing. There was something about this place that was both intriguing and terrifying him. It was a weird mix of emotions and he wasn't sure what to do with it.

His two coloured eyes looked at the man and woman within the building, who seemed to be a heated debate about something. She seemed to be in distress and as she walked past him, Echo wondered if he should reach out and comfort her. But his attention got drawn to the man who had walked out after her, now speaking to him. Feeling how his fight or flight response was kicking in, he felt his body slightly tremble. The words that he had prepared leaving his thoughts entirely. "I— I— I want to speak with a science guy." He found his words again, as he felt his tails twitch around his torso and his two different eyes focussing on the man in front of him.

The girl was of no concern to him anymore. Sure, her school would probably contact him pretty soon about the whole ordeal. But he would just tell them the same thing he told her: it wasn't enough.

The guy in front of him stuttered his answer. Was he that nervous? About a science building? Damien had no idea what went on in the individuals head, what made him this nervous. But he found it weird behavior. "You found one, some would even say I am the science guy." Though, there were a lot of colleagues who liked to argue with that fact.

It was in this moment that he noticed the two different colored eye. "You have heterochromia." he stated bluntly. "Only 1 percent of the entire world population has that." facts that the man probably knew. He had repeated it for himself. "Step in," he opened the door for him. "We can discuss whatever you want in my office. Do you want coffee? Tea?" never waste a rare opportunity when it stands in front of you.

He had found the right person, apparently. This man had some kind of high rank, or so Echo assumed as he spoke about himself being called the science guy. He should be able to help him, right? Or at least give him some more information. As thus far all of his sources has giving him none whatsoever. And he was feeling himself getting annoyed by the fact that nobody seemed to know anything.

Echo blinked a few times when the man spoke about heterochromia and something about the one perfect of population that has it. He wasn't sure what the man was speaking about, but as he was staring in his eyes, he figured that it has something to do with that. "I have what?" He asked carefully. But before he could get any answer, he was invited in and asked if he wanted coffee or tea. "Coffee." Echo spoke slowly, last time he had gotten coffee it had not left a bad taste, so why not try that again. Taking a deep breath, he continued. "If you think my eyes are interesting, you'll be especially interested in the other things I'll show you."
