Djodie Archeron
journey card

Third journey with Djodie. I am either looking for a fun affinity that suits her (Water, grass, psychic, fairy, bug). Or a shiny/traited Eevee(lution) to expand her eevee army!

She has both Duster her Lycanroc, Bell her shiny Umbreon and Aurora her Amethyst Glaceon with her.

Slowly but surely, Djodie had the idea her life was picking up again. He had started college again, got herself a handfull of new Pokémon, had made some connection with people that could really develop into friendships. Something she really needed.

As she walked out of the city, Duster stayed right beside her, as he always did. Bell and Aurora trailed a little before them, side by side. The two Pokémon had really grown towards each other, Djodie had noticed. Which wasn't completely strange, ofcourse. They made their way towards the marshlands, Djodie wasn't entirely sure why she went here in the firstplace. But she knew better then to turn around, there could probably be a reason why her or her Pokémon were drawn towards this place.

As you enter the marshes, a low mist seems to be hanging over the ground, though it barely reaches your middle. It makes it harder to see the ground, but you can see ahead of you. The ground is a little soggy, because of the mist, but it isn’t too hard to navigate for now.

As you get deeper into the marsh, there are a few things that grab your attention. The first thing is some lights moving a little to your left. The lights stay on for a bit and then go out again and then it repeats itself again. There seems to be a pattern to it, but you’re not close enough to distinguish what this means. Something else that stands out in the midst of the marshes is a big tree, its roots partly bared to the world, most likely because of water. Between the roots there’s an opening big enough for a human to squeeze through.

Head towards the lights, to investigate what is happening there.
Head towards the tree and see what might be hidden between the roots.
Head deeper into the marshes.

your journey begins...

There was a mist clouding the ground, but over all, the area was a lot more approachable then Djodie had expected. Carefully she continued her journey through the marshlands, untill something caught her attention. Multiple scenario's stood out, but there was one thing that really seemed to be screaming for her focus.
A light. Not just a light, no.
It was floating.

And beside the fact that it was weird, Djodie's curiousity was piqued enough to want to follow it. She shortly whistled to let her Pokémon know whe was changing direction, and the trio turned back to her at once. As usual, the eeveelutions trailed a little further away, wile Duster remained at his spot right by her side.
The little light seemed to be going on and off, and as Djodie walked in closer, she realised that there was some sort of pattern to it. What would this be? Could it belong to a Pokémon of some sorts?

You decide to head towards the lights, the ground is quite stable as you move on. The lights moving ahead form several different patterns as you come closer. Though you have no idea what those patterns mean. The ground becomes wetter as you get closer to the lights till the mist clears up a little and you can see a swamp in front of you.

The lights are moving above the swamp, but from where you are currently standing that is all you can see. You are unable to see what makes these lights or why they’re moving in this pattern.

Find a way to approach the lights, to take a closer look.
Try to lure the lights to where you currently are.
Investigate the surroundings before acting.

Djodie Archeron
Somewhere in the back of her mind, there was a little voice that started to wonder if this was a good idea. To enter the swamp in the middle of winter - water everywhere. Did she really want a go-again of her forest adventure? That time it took three people to get her out safely- and if it wasn't for Ruisang, the other's help would have been for nothing.

Yet there was something about these lights that Djodie could not let go. Before her lay the swamp, that made clear that her way to the lights - if that's what she wanted - was a bit more difficult than she initially thought.
Djodie swallowed as she started to look around, tried to see what was going on, and if there, perhaps, was an easier path? The girl started walking a few meters to the right. Even a good piece of wood would do, if she could use that as footing to now slip away in the swamp.

For a moment you hesitate, wondering whether it will be a smart idea to try and cross the marshland while the water will most likely be quite cold, but curiosity wins it here and you start to look for a route that might take you to the lights, anything that might be a better option then just heading through the water.

you've rolled a 6 on a d20 for perception.

As you walk a few meters to the right, you can’t seem to find a clear path however much you look. There are some flimsy pieces of wood laying here and there, but they are clearly not strong enough to bear your weight. You can see some clumps of earth sticking out here and there in the marsh, but from where you are standing you can’t tell whether they will be stable enough to carry your weight. Inbetween it mostly consists of water, the muddy water hiding what might be underneath it. What will you do?

Djodie Archeron
Luck wasn't on her side, as Djodie found nothing to her use. She sighed as she walked back towards the lights, trying to figure out a way to go over the water.

Wait a minute.

The redhead turned towards Aurora. The Pokémon had frozen over an entire cave. Surely she could manage to freeze over a small portion of the water, enough for them to walk over?
"Aurora?" Djodie's voice was soft, as she wasn't sure what else could be here, and if it was possible to scare away the lights. The Glaceon turned her little head towards Djodie. "Could you try to freeze over a path for us to walk towards the lights?" Aurora turned her head towards the swamp water as she took a few small steps towards it. With seemingly little efford, the Glaceon started to drop the temperature again, as Djodie watched curiously to see if she would succeed. And if the layer of ice would indeed be strong enough for them to walk over.

You realise that there is nothing near you that can help you cross the marsh. You can’t be sure whether the clumps of earth are steady enough for you to use and the water might hide hidden dangers. Just as you think that there is no way to cross, you remember that you have a pokemon with you that can freeze water.

you've rolled a 10 on a d20 for perception.

You ask your Glaceon to freeze the water, to create a path for you to walk towards the lights. Your Glaceon starts to cool down, the water in the air slowly turning to snowflakes and as she touches the water it starts to freeze over, but with it also the surroundings. It’s clear that her intention of creating a path has ended in freezing more than had been your intention. Still, the ice itself seems stable enough to walk upon now.

When the water started to freeze over, the lights stopped moving, staying in place. Some even start to fade away now that they’re aware that someone or something else is here. Something that can freeze the water like this. But there are enough of them left for you to be able to know where you should be heading. How will you proceed?

Djodie Archeron

At her question, Aurora started to lower the temperature around them, and Djodie noticed snowflakes materialising on the water surface. As the Pokémon set foot on the lake, it froze over, creating a path for them to walk over.

Shit, this might not be her best thought-through move. As Aurora started to freeze over a part of the lake, their surroundings cooled down as well. Djodie held her breath as she noticed the lights had stopped moving - some even disappeared. But quite a few stayed on, and Djodie carefully stepped on the icey road. It seemed to hold her.
"Good job Aurora," she praised the Pokémon, while she carefully made her way over to the lights. Slowly she crossed the lake, her Pokémon coming after her, as Djodie moved towards the lights, curious what they could be.

With the water now frozen over, you start to make your way across it. The first part has clearly been frozen solid and as you make sure not to slip, everything seems to be going fine.

you've rolled a 15 on a d20 for athletics.

Just as you are getting closer to the lights, there are a few clumps of earth sticking out from the ice, making it a bit less stable around there, but you manage to keep your footing as you get close enough to see what the lights consist of. The lights are still staying in place, clearly keeping an eye on the frozen water. One of them does dare to take a closer look.

Volbeat

You notice the pokemon in front of you has the light you have seen before on its lower back, it’s a small bulb giving off light. The pokemon consists of red, black, blue and yellow colours and it stares at you. It actually seems a little annoyed now that you get a closer look. It points from the ice to you and then back to the other Volbeat. It is clearly not happy with the ice and neither seem the others. What will you do?

Djodie Archeron

The lights, as it turned out, were not just lights. Djodie felt the courage sink to her shoes as she realised it, when one of the lights came floating towards them. It was a volbeat.
Shit, shit. Stupid little girl. The little Pokémon stared at her, and Djodie noticed it was quite frustrated. She couldn't really blame it, could she?
The Volbeat looked from her, to the ice, to the other Volbeat. Meaning clear, Djodie scratched the back of her neck with her hand. "I - I'm sorry - We didn't mean to - I -" Even to a Pokémon, she couldn't form a normal sentence. Nervous, Djodie turned towards Aurora, who looked at her and luckily understood the message right away.

The Glaceon rose the temperature fast, and the ice quickly melted away. Djodie smiled awkwardly at the floating Pokémon. [b]"See, al fine. We're so sorry,"[/i] and with that, shamefully looked around to find a way to leave the Volbeat alone.

Freezing the marsh was clearly not what these Volbeat appreciated and even with your apology they seem a bit sceptical. Aurora starts to raise the temperature, letting the ice melt. The Volbeat looks from you to the water, seeing that it has been unfrozen.

you've rolled a 9 on a d20 for persuasion.

Your words and actions combined seem to be good enough to convince them that it has been an accident. That your curiosity might have gotten the better of you. Now that you have time to observe your surroundings, you notice that there are only Volbeat here, except for one other pokemon, an Illumise. Now that the ice is gone, the Illumise starts producing a sweet aroma again. The Volbeat who had gone up to you, to explain what has happened goes back to join the others and as you watch they start to make patterns again with their lights. This would be a good moment to try and escape. What will you do? Will you leave or investigate further?

Djodie Archeron

Lucky for her, the Volbeat seemed to be satisfied with her stammered excuse. When Aurora had defrosted the lake, the little pokémon floated back towards the others, and left her alone. It gave Djodie an opportunity to look around a bit more, as the situation was settled down and more calm now.

She now realised, there were Illumise floating around as well. A sweet scent appeared around them and the Volbeat went back into creating a pattern through their lights. Djodie gestured her pokémon to walk with her, as she tried to find a quieter spot by the pokémon, so she wouldn't bother them, but it would leave her a bit of an option to see if there was something else. Either in the area or perhaps something about the pokémon.

You take up a position so as not to disturb the pokemon, but they’re aware that you’re still there. They keep ignoring you for now, the Illumise using her sweet aroma to make the Volbeat dance for her. You get the feeling that you have walked upon an intimate situation. That the Volbeat are trying to impress the Illumise, each one trying his best, but for now it doesn’t seem like the Illumise is really interested in any of them.

you've rolled a 18 on a d20 for perception.

You notice that the one that had headed towards you was trying his best too, even more so than the rest it seemed, but it was clear that he was a little clumsy, not as subtle as the rest of them and clearly trying to grab the attention of the Illumise. What will you do? Try and help him or will you leave, realising that this is not something a human should involve themselves with.

Djodie Archeron

As she couldn't help but watch, Djodie noticed the Volbeat that had approached her, was trying to impress one of the Illumise. But, as it seemed, he was a bit clumsy. He was trying too hard, to her own opinion. But who was she to judge?
Djodie shook her head, as she, for one, had no idea how to even help the Pokémon, and secondly, hadn't she disturbed the pokémon enough already? With that thought, she softly whistled to gain the attention of her own Pokémon. Duster stood by her side in a second, but both the Eeveelutions didn't seem to want to follow her.

Djodie furrowed her brow as she watched Bell simply sit down and look at her, and to the Volbeat. Really now? Djodie closed her eyes for a second. "But I don't know how to -" she whispered, not wanting to create more disturbance. Bell just stayed seated as she tilted her head.
Fine then. Djodie let her gaze go over the other Volbeat, as she tried to see what they were doing, and what was effective on the Illumise. Maybe she could help the clumsy Volbeat.

You make the decision, albeit a bit reluctantly, to stay and try to help the Volbeat. Mostly because Bell seemed to want you to help. You watch the pokemon performing, trying to impress the Illumise, hoping to gain some insight to be able to give the Volbeat some pointers.

you've rolled a 1 on a d20 for investigation.

However much you watch the other Volbeat, you just can’t seem to come up with any ideas or anything that the other Volbeat might be doing wrong that you could correct. You don’t understand any of this, that is clear. As you’re focussing very intently on the Volbeat, you hear something rustling behind you, seeming to move through the undergrowth. Just as it seems like it will stumble upon you and the other pokemon, it veers away from you, heading deeper into the marsh. You have not seen what this is, since you have been watching the Volbeat. What will you do? Try to help the Volbeat anyway or follow the rustling sound?

Djodie Archeron

Irritation hit her as she just couldn't make sense of what the other Volbeat were doing. It made no sense to her, she saw no patterns and still had no idea how she was supposed to help that clumsy Volbeat. he would have to try on his own.
Then, just before she was about to leave it behind and try to find her way home, a rustling sound caught her attention. Curious, Djodie turned around, to see something move below the growth.

It seemed to be going towards them, but as it realised that, it turned around and started heading in the other direction. With a short look on Bell, the Umbreon looked back at her and understood her silent request. She shot up and carefully traced whatever it was. Djodie whistled quietly for Duster and Aurora, and they followed Bell through the marsh.

The rustling grabs your attention, you send Bell after whatever it is, to make sure you will stay on its trail, leaving the Volbeat and Illumise behind. The undergrowth is not easy to move in, especially not quietly, but still you move forward.

you've rolled a 15 on a d20 for stealth.

You manage to quietly follow whatever was moving through the undergrowth, the sky growing darker by now, making it harder for you to see where you are going. Just when you think that you might need to stop, because it would get too dangerous to keep going in this darkness, lights start to appear, seemingly leading you on a trail. These lights are clearly different from the Volbeat.

The path is quite clear to you, but you have no idea where it will lead you. It has become quite dark too, so what will you do? Will you keep going? Or will you turn back and try to return home?

Bell slowed down after every few steps and twisted her ears towards them to make sure they were still following her. When the pokémon seemed to be sure they were, she quickly continued to chase the rustle again.
Djodie noticed it getting dark quickly now, and it made her mind wonder how safe it would be to stay here. Just as she was about to call Bell back, the lights entered her line of sight.

They seemed clearly different from the earlier lights. Softly illuminating a path for them to follow. As far as she could see the rumbling movements had stopped, as if whatever it had been, had indeed tried to lead them onto this path.
"Stay close," Djodie whispered to her pokémon, as she decided to indeed follow the path, the curiousity getting the better of her.

You decide to follow the path, your curiosity winning it out over your caution. The path leads through a dry patch of land, the undergrowth and trees parted by a path just wide enough for one person to walk. The lights seem to be moving with you and here and there you think you catch a glimpse of something that seems to be a mushroom that’s glowing, but before you can be sure it disappears again.

you've rolled a 7 on a d20 for perception. The DC was 14.

You are so focused on following the path that the lights guide you through that you notice too late that slowly the air surrounding you is starting to fill with flickering spores and before you know it you have breathed some of it too. You’re starting to feel drowsy and you notice that the same is happening to your pokemon. What will you do? Try and continue on, fight against the drowsiness or turn around and try to flee?

Continuing on might put you in grave danger, think carefully before deciding what to do.
