Keeping him at a certain distance at the moment might be better, she might scare him if he really knew the truth about what she knew and what she wanted to do. Maybe there had been a point when she would have told him everything, but she couldn’t deny that things had changed, that a lot of things had happened and that she had put her priorities straight. And it meant that Ming wasn’t the first priority. How selfish it may sound, it was herself and the fact that she wanted to know more about herself. That was not something that anyone was going to stop her from, not even Ming.

Don’t worry, I will.


Though she was ready to do anything for the answers, she had concluded that. Her life or those of others didn’t matter. She just needed to stay alive long enough to find everything she needed to know. And yes, she might regret it once she knew everything, but that wasn’t something she could even consider at the moment. Nothing seemed worse than not knowing.

She told him after he told her he had called a cab. She always seemed to be thanking him, she kept going to him when she needed help. It wouldn’t have surprised her if Ming had refused to help her at one point, but he hadn’t. Not yet at least. This whole situation had become a whole lot more complicated. If more pieces were at play, they had to be found. Preferably before anyone else did. Not until he knew more. All he knew now was that they possessed an unnatural power, which was to be expected. The questions of what they were and what they could do remained.

Soon the cab arrived. Míngzé grabbed some money and held it towards Lucina. “Hopefully this will be enough to pay for the ride.” They always asked for a ridiculous amount of money for a simple ride, it was exactly why he preferred the bus no matter the fact that it would take him longer to get home. Míngzé felt completely drained after this whole affair and he still was unsure of what to do next. “If anything happens, or even if you just need to talk, give me a call.” Things were still awkward, especially after last time, but that did not matter. These recent developments were more important and he really wanted to know what more she would figure out.

It didn’t take long for the cab to arrive, indicating that the two of them would go their separate ways from here. She had promised that she would tell him if she found out more and somewhere she hoped he would do the same, but a part of her doubted he would even if he did know things.

She was always the one receiving help from him it seemed, she would be willing to help him too if he ever needed it. He would just need to ask, that was all. She took the money he gave her, but it still didn’t feel right to just take things every time. She would make sure that the next time it would be the other way around, that she would at least be able to treat him to something.

She sent as a final message before stepping into the cab, telling the driver to take her to Tales & Brews. Ming most likely thought that she would be going to Yuan’s apartment, but that was something she would explain another time. Míngzé Xǔ
