Oh. Oh. Míngzé was shitfaced. Or at the very least quite a bit tipsy. She recognized his slight slurring from last time, combined with his completely undeserved confidence. Mindo raised a singular eyebrow at him, his nativity was almost cute. What could go wrong? Well, considering that she'd come close to stabbing him last time, and they nearly knocked each other's lights out the time before that - quite a lot. Judging from his sarcastic response, Míngzé's friend was thinking the same thing.

Innocent as a lamb, their mutual friend made his way into the building. Despite her better judgement, Mindo followed in their wake. From the corner of her eye, she saw Soot giving her a confused look. One she wouldn't answer, because he was so fucking right. What the hell was she doing, following this fucker into his home, for arceus' sake? Then again, the annoyance on his face was nearly worth it - and perhaps even more so, she felt like it was too late to back out now. "As long as they don't fuck with Soot, there won't be a problem at all," she retorted in just the same tone, though she dreaded seeing that horrible mawile again.

With a sense of dread, she followed them into the apartment. To her relief, there was no Mawile in sight. The man wasn't lying about the amount of pokémon, though - scattered everywhere were pearly eyes, staring at them. Soot still had his hackles raised, especially once he noticed the black vulpix that hid under a table. Mindo signalled him to stay close, as she guided Mingzé towards a couch. Once the blonde shit headed into the kitchen, she grabbed his arm with a sense of urgency. "He didn't drug you, did he?" she hissed quietly, making sure he wouldn't hear. She'd think it unlikely, but felt the need to check. After all, Míngzé had told her he didn't drink, and not a single hair on her body trusted the man in the kitchen.

HYPOCRITE OF DARKNESS
SHOWS ITS FACE, LIKE A NIGHTMARE, AGAIN, THIS REPETITIVE PATTERN

There was a warning about the pokémon, one Míngzé assumed was not directed at him. He decided to shrug it off. Somehow he had the idea that he would find out sooner rather than later. “He truly wants to ‘catch ‘em all’, doesn’t he?”

They entered Sāng’s apartment and to his surprise, they were not immediately greeted by all their pokémon. In fact, it was rather quiet. “Snacks are always a good idea.” Especially if they were going to play some drinking game, it might be a good idea to have something to eat. As Sāng disappeared towards the kitchen, Mindo helped him towards the couch. “Thanks.” Navigating a new place was always a struggle and she made it much easier for him.

Letting out a contented sigh, he sank onto the couch, leaning back against the pillows. He removed one of his shoes, before Mindo grabbed him by the arm. With one eyebrow raised, he turned his head towards her. Her whole question caught him by surprise. “Drug me? Who? Sāng?” A chuckle escaped as he patted her hand in a reassuring gesture. “No, he only gave me a shot that was on fire.” It was very strong. Too strong for him.

Dai jumped on the couch next to him, at the other side of Mindo and Soot, glaring at the other Houndour. “What’s the deal between you two anyway?” Clearly there was some history between them, everyone could see that. That they knew each other was not that big of a surprise, given that they lived in the same building.

The moment his blond head disappeared in what she presumed to be the kitchen, she guided Míngzé towards the couch. There was a sense of urgency in the way she held onto his arm, the proximity between their bodies not one she often willingly allowed. Still, something gnawed at the edges of her mind. It seemed unlikely, but likely enough for her to check. She asked Míng with a serious tone, but all it earned her was laughter. Annoyed, she let go off his sleeve. His gentle patting of her hand earned him a roll of her eyes. With a huff, she pulled it back, crossing her arms."Just checking. Never know with a guy like him," she grumbled. Maybe no drugs, but he had pretty successful gotten her neighbor drunk.

Her eyes shifted towards movement, as his little puppy jumped on the couch close to them. With a glare, she willed her own houndour into silence. Apart from the death stare the two pokémon were giving each other, Míngzé's pokémon seemed relatively relaxed. That eased her mind at least a little. If his puppy was anything like her own, he'd never let him go to a place of danger. Unless it didn't know. Mindo bit her lip in contemplation. "He almost let his pokémon kill Soot, so I punched him in the face," she said as if it was a daily occurrence. Nothing out of the ordinary. "There's something rotten in that guy, I just know it,"

To him, Mindo was not making any sense at all. Perhaps this was simply how Sāng made friends. First he made sure they hated him but slowly he would grow on them. Míngzé sure as hell did not like him when they first met. In that regard he could see a bit of himself in Mindo. He hummed softly as he was folding his cane to place it on his lap. A guy like him. There it was again, the part he could not understand.

His brow shot up when she told him Sāng’s pokémon had nearly killed hers. That was less unbelievable. Both pokémon of his were very strong, he felt the power of one of them back at the frozen lake. They were probably able to kill Dai with a snip of their finger. And still, it felt highly unlikely that it was not a misunderstanding. She even punched him in the face. “Now I understand,” he said with a nod. It made sense now why they acted like this towards each other. Only Mindo carried on.

“Don’t say that,” Míngzé interjected, his voice carrying an unintended edge. Softly he sighed as he regained his composure again. “Trust me when I say Sāng’s a good person. Not saying that you have to like him, but he’s not what you say he is.” He knew parts about Sāng and about his fears. While it was probably only the surface, he could not let Mindo say anything like this about him. He was looking at her as he spoke, his expression calm and gentle.

He understood? Well, clearly he fucking didn’t. Annoyed, Mindo stared at him, She had to remind herself he was intoxicated, and her words might not ring through to him at first. Still, when he actually snapped at her, she couldn’t help but feel a little hurt. Here she was, warning this fucker because she gave a snipper of a care about his and his pokemons’ safety, and he just disregarded it completely. Mindo scoffed and moved away from him, leaning back into the cough with her arms crossed. A good person? Clearly, Míngzé wasn’t great at judging people’s characters. Though, she probably should’ve figured that out earlier, considering he found himself in a room with the blond bitch apparently named Sang, and herself. “Fine, figure it out yourself,” she hissed, annoyed.

As Ruìsāng moved around the open kitchen, he couldn't help but catch the low murmurs of conversation between the two. Part of him conjured up scenarios of her painting him as the villain, recounting an exaggerated tale of aggression on the rooftop. He let out a soft sigh, choosing not to intervene. After all, if Míngzé sided with her narrative without question, it might simplify matters.

However, when he returned, armed with a bottle of quality tequila, three glasses, and a couple of bags of crisps, the atmosphere between them was noticeably strained, not the cosy scene he had envisioned. With a quizzical arch of his eyebrow, he tossed one of the bags in her direction, setting the other on the table along with the glasses, which he promptly filled with tequila. The bottle took its place at the centre stage on the table, awaiting refills.

Not enjoying yourself, devil? You're always welcome to head back,” he offered with a feigned innocence, a playful smile curving his lips as he sank into a chair. “Or, we could play a game. Truth or dare. Gēgē, you're up first.” Anything better than forced small talk.

HYPOCRITE OF DARKNESS
SHOWS ITS FACE, LIKE A NIGHTMARE, AGAIN, THIS REPETITIVE PATTERN

These last months Míngzé had gotten to know Sāng and while he was not perfect, he trusted him. How could he not defend him when Mindo said something that wasn’t true? It did not sound like she appreciated his answer, which was in a way understandable. If she really nearly feared she would lose her pokémon to him, she had a good reason to be on edge around him. Still, there were two sides of this story and he wanted to give both the benefit of the doubt.

With knitted brows Míngzé looked to the side when Mindo moved away from him, her words clearly indicating that she was unhappy about the turn of events. A sigh escaped as he shook his head. “I’m sure he did not mean him any harm,” he decided to say before he could hear Sāng coming back from the kitchen. Everyone could feel the tension in the air.

“We were just catching up,” Míngzé said with a small smile. He liked Mindo too, trusted her enough and he was not looking for a fight. Some bottle was placed on the table and filled with— he would find out soon enough as they were playing truth or dare. “Wait? Why me?” he countered immediately, his back straightening as he spoke, only to eventually sigh in defeat. “Alright, alright, Sāng, truth or dare?” This was going to end badly, he could already feel it.

As the choice circled back to Ruìsāng, with Míngzé's expectant gaze upon him, he weighed his options. Opting for a truth seemed straightforward, yet divulging secrets to the red devil, didn't quite appeal to him. Mulling over his decision, he wanted to maintain a semblance of strength, not giving the devil the satisfaction of seeing him falter. He rationalised that Míngzé wouldn't propose anything too outlandish.

Dare,” Ruìsāng declared with a collected demeanour, his hand casually cradling his glass of tequila, the liquid swirling with a gentle motion. Absorbed in the moment, he didn’t notice Hēixié's silent emergence from the shadows, the creature positioning itself under his chair, its red gaze locked on Mindo with unwavering intensity.

Sāng had made his choice and now he had to decide what dare he would give him. A thoughtful hum left his lips as he gazed towards him. The first dare of the game and that while there was still tension in the air. It would not be a good idea to go over the top immediately, especially with Mindo in their midst.

“Let’s start small,” Míngzé decided upon with a nod when he made his choice. “Text someone you are close with and tell them you have come to the realization that you are most definitely straight, try to convince them it's true. And of course we like to know how it goes.” Mingze pointed between Mindo and himself. Everyone who knew Sāng probably knew he was anything but straight. But they had to start somewhere.

Míngzé's opening move in their game of truth or dare was a challenge that seemed simple. After considering his options, Ruìsāng decided against sending the message to Vince, nor to his sister, with whom the jest might escalate. Viktor was dismissed with the expectation of an indifferent response. Thus, Alastor became the chosen recipient of Ruìsāng's message—a decision that sparked a hint of curiosity regarding the potential reaction.

Let’s wait and see if he bothers to respond,” Ruìsāng remarked with a blend of resignation and intrigue, as he casually tossed his phone onto the table, signalling the completion of his task.

Turning the game back onto the redhead, Ruìsāng posed the challenge with a spark of mischief in his tone, “So, devil, what’ll it be? Truth or dare?

Annoyed at his easy dismissal, Mindo sat back on the couch and crossed her arms. Fine, let him figure it out himself. With a sniff, she reached for Soot, who was now perched on her lap, and scratched him behind the ear. Her dismay must have been evident, though, as Sang took the liberty to remark on it. It earned him a poisonous stare, but the redhead did not move from her spot. “Try me,” she offered, the prospect of a challenge enough to draw her in.

To both her and Míngzé’s surprise, Sang appointed her blind friend as the first player. Mindo watched their back and forth, a hint of a grin on her face as the situation unfolded. So the blond stranger wasn’t straight. Hm. In other circumstances, Mindo might’ve drawn the conclusion that they might’ve been dating. After all, Míngzé seemed awfully fond of him, not to mention their usage of nicknames and the occasional touching of their hands. However, after her encounter with Lucina, Mindo doubted it. Míngzé sure surprised her with his little demon girl toy, but she didn’t think him a cheat.

The challenge snapped her back to reality. “Dare,” Perhaps it would’ve been easier to introduce herself to him, but in a sadistic sense she enjoyed her little nickname. See how long it would take for him to ask, and show some interest in her. Mindo poured herself a drink. “Do your worst, Sāng

The challenge was laid out with a hint of daring, the devil addressing him by the nickname most opted for simplicity's sake. Ruìsāng didn't mind; it was preferable to the awkward stumbles through his full name he'd encountered before. Adopting Sāng as the go-to had been a practical choice, one that eased introductions and spared both parties the hassle.

Well, it seems you’re a bit hot-headed. I dare you to let Míng-gē help douse that with a few ice cubes down your shirt,” he quipped, his smile widening. And if she were to agree, he would get some for them. How nice of him.

Karma was near instant. Her smug grin faltered at his dare. In all honesty, she'd expected something far worse. Perhaps a pokémon battle, or some other kind of crime against humanity. She wouldn't put it past him. Still, Mindo wasn't exactly raving at the thought of having something cold and wet trail down her shirt. Annoyed, she sighed. Clever little boy, after her affinity had awakened, Mindo had grown to hate the cold even more than before. "Aren't you so funny," her voice dripped with sarcasm. Still, a challenge was a challenge, and Mindo was stubborn like a mule."Fine," and with that, Sang headed towards the kitchen once more. Mindo grumbled something under her breath, dreading the prospect of something icy against her skin.

"Told you he was evil," she said dryly in a low voice after turning towards Míngzé. There was a hint of humor in her voice. "And he can't even pronounce your name," It was , not , even she knew that. Clearly, she was the better friend here. As the blonde returned, Mindo watched the ice in his palm with clear dismay. Against her better judgement, she made Soot get off her lap and turned towards Míng. "Help yourself, Míng"

Mindo’s turn, which was perfect. It meant he was safe for another round. He had his hand on Dai’s head, gently petting him as he was waiting. Hot-headed Mindo needed to cool down and he was supposed to do so. “Wait, what? Don’t I have a say in this?” Apparently not. Mindo agreed with the dare and Sāng quickly disappeared to the kitchen to grab the ice cubes.

“Annoying, perhaps, yes, with that I can agree,” he said with a soft chuckle. Although if he was forced to take ice cubes down his shirt, he would also think of it as evil. “Hm? Oh, no not at all. It’s like addressing me as big brother, it comes from gēge. He has been using it since we first met,” Míngzé explained calmly, a smile on his lips. He understood how it could be confusing for those unfamiliar with the term.

Sāng soon returned and handed him the ice cubes. They were extremely cold to the touch, he could not imagine what it was like to feel them down his shirt. “Are you sure? They are very cold.” His brow was knitted together. When it did not look like she was going to back down, he placed a hand on her shoulder before finding the collar of her shirt. “Goodluck,” Míngzé said as a warning before letting go of the ice cubes.

Did Ming have a say in this? Certainly not. She wished for him to straight out refuse, but she knew he wouldn't - it was Míngzé, after all. Gritting her teeth, Mindo waited for the blond man to return. In the meantime, she saw an opportunity to bash him further... Which backfired. "Whatever," she muttered, a little annoyed. So they even had little nicknames for each other. How cute. She wondered if his little girlfriend would like that.

As Sang returned, Mindo watched him hand the cubes over to Míngzé. If looks could kill, he'd be obliterated within a second. "Don't taunt me," she told Míngzé with a grumble, before turning her back towards him. No way in hell she'd let the devil duo watch the cubes melt all over her chest. "Yeah, just- Ah! Ah, fuck, Arceus!" her voice rang through the apartment when the ice slid down her shirt towards her lower back, where they melted agonizingly slowly. Mindo's face was wrinkled in dismay, her affinity burning up to get rid of the cold that lingered on her skin. She balled her firsts. "Happy now?" why the fuck did she come here? "Okay, great, wonderful. Anyway, Sāng, truth or dare?" she'd get him for this.

The girl's agreement to the dare brought a gleam of mischief to Ruìsāng's eyes as he procured some ice cubes for the task at hand. With a casual handoff to Míngzé, he watched the scene unfold, the subsequent shock of ice against skin drawing an amused chuckle from him.

Her inquiry, asking if he was satisfied with the outcome, was met with a nod of amused affirmation from Ruìsāng. The tables turned quickly, however, as the challenge looped back to him, prompting a choice.

With a playful, almost mischievous grin, he opted for the latter. “Dare for me, I suppose,” he declared, his smile masking the gears turning in his head. He doubted she could concoct a dare that would catch him off guard, underestimating her creativity or the potential for retaliation.

Míngzé's 'friend' took the liberty of answering her rhetorical question with a nod and a smug grin. God, how she'd like to strangle the blond fucker, wipe the smile clean off of his face. The ice was still pressed against her skin, caught between the tight fabric of her black shirt and the heat of her skin. Utterly uncomfortable, she sat there, seething while the cubes melt. It gave her ample time to concoct a suitable revenge.

At her inquiry, Sang did not seem to need much time to think at all. It surprised her. She'd had expected him to go for the safer option of a dare, but she certainly wouldn't look a gifted horse in the mouth. "Sāng," she started, a now truly devilish smile on her lips. "Why don't you give good old Míng-gē a kiss?"

Was that a little evil? Perhaps. Did Míngzé deserve that? Or that little girlfriend of his? Perhaps not. She usually wasn't one to meddle with relationships... Or no, yeah, she usually was. Still, she didn't expect either one of them to actually agree, but she was looking forward to seeing him struggle. Mindo sat back, a smug grin on her face. The torment of cold ice in her shirt had suddenly become a little more tolerable.

The challenge posed by the demon elicited a single, sceptical eyebrow raise from Ruìsāng. He half-expected her to burst into laughter, to reveal it all as a joke, but her earnestness suggested she truly believed in the cunning of her dare. With a heavy exhale, Ruìsāng couldn’t help but shake his head at the absurdity.

Though I’m certain gēgē might have been eagerly waiting for this,” he commented, his voice tinged with amusement, “my loyalty lies elsewhere, and I’m not about to jeopardise that for the sake of a dare.” After expressing his stance, Ruìsāng casually took a sip of his tequila, then shifted his attention back to Míngzé, indicating it was his friend's turn to engage in the game. “You're up, gēgē,” he prompted, nodding towards Míngzé.

Míngzé could not keep a smile away from his face when the ice cubes fell down her shirt. The noise she made was too funny not to. A shiver ran down his own back at the mere idea of how it must feel like. So far he was glad that he was not on the receiving end on this dare.

The same could not be said for the next one, although he raised an eyebrow, turning his gaze towards Sāng. There was no way he would agree to this one. As expected, he backed down. “Not in your wildest dreams,” Míngzé said amused, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips. “I like my men not taken, thank you.”

Where he managed to escape this bullet, he doubted it would stay that way for long. Now it was his turn. Softly he hummed. Truth was always the safer option in games like these and it was exactly what he wanted to go for. “Let’s go dare,” Míngzé sighed, readjusting his posture as he did so.
