HYPOCRITE OF DARKNESS
SHOWS ITS FACE, LIKE A NIGHTMARE, AGAIN, THIS REPETITIVE PATTERN

A stone and a gear. Míngzé raised an eyebrow when he heard it. Those were some very odd prices. He expected some kind of goodie bag, filled with some kind of candy and maybe a small figurine, not whatever this was. “A gear? Are you sure?” It was probably stupid to question her, but maybe she was wrong. “These prices are weird.” He wondered what prices other people had received. Perhaps there was a mistake with theirs. It was a pokémon that gifted them after all.

Before they left Míngzé wanted to make sure that Lucina had done everything she wanted to do. After that they could go. Although part of him soon wished he never asked. In her case however, he understood why she wanted to visit them. “Maybe, but don’t get your hopes up. These people are often fake and mostly tell you how you will find that one special person, how you will be successful in whatever way, all the basic stuff.” It was often even worse if they asked money for their services. Then you knew they were absolutely fake.

She thought it was strange too, to get a rock and a gear as prices, but they were most likely not normal. At least she hoped they were not, otherwise this was really strange. "Maybe they can be used for something?" She tried, though she wasn't very sure about it. Still the pokemon had been happy enough that she was sure that they had chosen the right place.

The fortune teller might end up to be useless, but they might be useful too. It was at least worth a try and if it didn't seem to be true, she could just ignore everything the person had told her. "I want to try it anyway, I can always ignore what they say." She told Ming, before heading in the direction of where she thought the fortune teller would be. It shouldn't be hard to spot the right place, that much she knew.

Míngzé simply shrugged and shook his head as he did. These odd rewards were really that— odd. For now he would keep the stone in his pocket and probably forget all of it. “Maybe it is just some collectible.” People these days were very into collecting all kinds of objects. Not that it mattered. Now they would continue and after that end their day. It was about time for him to leave, he could feel the exhaustion settle down upon him.

For their last activity it seemed they were going to visit the fortune teller. Míngzé could not hold back a soft sigh. “Alright, because you want it,” he agreed with a nob. There probably was no harm in it. At least he hoped. He simply followed her as she walked through the festival on her way to the fortune teller. “What do you hope she can tell you?” Míngzé was genuinely curious. With her backstory, it did make sense that she wanted to give it a shot.

She wouldn't be surprised if it was just a collectible, but it would still be something she had earned herself. Though she knew she would be keeping it on her, just to be sure that if it had a use she would be able to use it when she needed it. It was up to Ming what he would do with his.

There were a lot of reasons why people would want to try going to a fortune teller, hers was just a little special. Since she hoped that the fortune teller would be able to tell her how she could find out about her past in the future. "I just hope she is able to give a hint as to where I might look for answers to my past." And since that would most likely happen in the future, this might be worth a try. "It's a better idea than going by all kinds of labs." That had been her first plan after all, trying to find the location she had seen in the flashback.

It made sense why Lucina wanted to give the fortune teller a try. Míngzé hummed softly after she explained what she was after. It was true, this was easier and safer than going through all kinds of labs, trying to figure out if any of them had something to do with her. Who knew what might happen to her were she to find that place.

Míngzé let out a sigh while he continued following her. “I can’t imagine what it must be like for you,” he said thoughtfully as he was trying his best to envision it, but it was impossible. “Not knowing anything about yourself or the world you wake up in. It must drive you mad.” It sounded like some kind of fairytale, especially given her looks. He often forgot about them, simply because he was never confronted by them. The one time he knew she was different, was when he had actually touched her ears. To him she was just like anyone else.

It was hard not to know her past, she couldn’t deny that. At times she was even desperate to get answers, which did lead to her killing some people, but that wasn’t something she could tell Ming about. Not now and not ever really. ”It is frustrating at times.” She admitted. ”But you have helped me a lot with it and now I know more than I did when I just woke up.” It was the truth and she was still learning or at least doing her best to learn as much as she could.

They had arrived at the fortune teller's tent and she looked at it. ”Shall I go first?” She asked him. She didn’t even know whether he wanted to go to the fortune teller, but otherwise it would be rude to just head in first without asking. If he wanted to go first, he was free to do so.

Míngzé hummed in silent agreement. While difficult to imagine, it was only logical that something like this would be more than frustrating. Memories shaped a person, just like events in one’s life did. Without those, who would you be? A smile broke through at the mention that he’d helped in some way. “Don’t mention it, all I’ve done is be there for you.” He did not think his role in all this was that big of a deal. What he did was help a friend.

They soon reached the place where the fortune teller had set up base. The smile form earlier was no more as Míngzé stared towards it. It could not be real. That was something he refused to believe. He let go of Lucina’s arm and nodded briefly. “Sure, I’ll wait here.” This gave him time to figure out if he wanted to go through with this or not. Míngzé found a place he could sit and waited there for Lucina’s return. Hopefully this fortune teller would not disappoint her too much.

Ming might not think much about helping her, but for her it was different. He had been there to help her when she needed it the most and that meant something for her, but she wasn’t going to say it now. Not when Ming only saw it as being there for her. When Ming told her that he would wait, she headed into the tent. She was a bit nervous, she couldn’t deny that, but it was worth a try.

After the reading, she left the tent, a lot of things were on her mind and she didn’t understand much about it. Only one thing seemed clear and that was that she would need to go to the mountains alone. ”I’m back.” She said as she approached Ming, her mind was still trying to work through the words the woman had told her. About keys that were waiting to be united. A new dawn, something with a slumbering power. She had no idea what exactly it would all mean, but the mountains might have the answers.

Patiently Míngzé waited. It would probably not take too long for Lucina to return. However, it felt like seconds turned into minutes and minutes into hours. It made him wonder if perhaps there was more to the Fortune Teller after all. The thought of entering himself made him nervous. Stupid, he told himself, but there was nothing to be done about it.

The moment Lucina’s voice sounded, Míngzé got up from his seat. “And? Did she tell you what you wanted to know?” No matter what he thought about Fortune Tellers’ he was still curious. Even if she was a fraud, it would help him ease his mind. Then he could get in there too without having to worry about what she might say.

She wasn't sure yet whether what the fortune teller told her was anything she could use, but it was worth a try at least. Ming asked her whether she had been told what she wanted to know, but she didn't know whether that was true or not. ”Maybe, it is at least something I can try, something with the mountains.” But it was something that she would have to do on her own. No questions there, but she wasn't planning on bringing anyone with her.

She wondered whether Ming would want to head inside too or that it was better to leave it at this. ”Do you want to try it too?” She asked him. Maybe the fortune teller could help him too, though she would have no idea what the woman would tell someone else. Maybe she would send him somewhere too or there might be something else, but it was up to him whether he wanted to try or not.

The mountains were a strange place to tell someone to go to. While it may be pretty, Míngzé failed to see how it could bring her answers. “That’s odd. Just be careful, the mountains are nothing like the big city.” There were probably worse places they could’ve sent her to. Shadowfell for example.

Softly he hummed as she asked him if he wanted to give it a try. Míngzé rather not go inside, but a part of him was curious. “Sure, if you could show me the entrance,” he said with a deep sigh. With Lucina’s help he went inside and he couldn’t help but feel nervous.

Once Míngzé left the place, he knew they were there. No matter that he could not see them, that they spoke no words, he felt them. In a way they spoke to him. For whatever reason they were displeased, angry even. It got worse the farther he went from the Fortune Teller’s tent. Míngzé had hoped that Lucina’s presence would’ve been enough of a distraction, but it was not.

“That was— a lot.” No words could really describe what he felt after those revelations. He wanted to believe them false, but how could he when they hit the mark so well. “I’m not sure what to make of all that she told me,” he continued shaking his head. Now it truly was time to leave, he wanted nothing more than to crash on the couch and take a nap.

Ming warned her that the mountains would be nothing like the big city, that was something she knew. Mountains would definitely not contain a city like this most likely. ”I will,” Though she told him that she would be careful, she already knew that she was prepared to do anything if it meant getting some answers.

She wondered whether he wanted to give it a try, if he didn’t that would be that, she wouldn’t push him into doing it. It was his own choice after all. So when he asked her to show him the entrance, she did. She took him by the arm and guided him to the entrance, letting him enter alone. She was curious about what he would get to hear in there, but that wasn’t meant for her to hear.

It took a bit of time before Ming came back, but the moment she saw him appear, she headed over, making sure that he would know she was there. He had clearly heard quite a bit and that he would need time to process it. ”Do you want to talk about it?” If he didn’t it was fine too, she wasn’t going to pry. She knew it might be better if they headed home now, it would give both of them time to think about what they had been told.

They were angry. That much he knew. Normally it was challenging to understand what the spirits around him said, but not this time. Míngzé gritted his teeth, attempting to block them out, or at the very least, ignore them. Unfortunately, it wasn't working.

It did not come as a surprise that Lucina wanted to know what he’d learned form this little adventure, yet he shook his head. “Perhaps some other time,” he told her while shaking his head. “When things are quieter.” The people around them he could deal with, everything else he felt since leaving the tent was different. They were extremely present. The words from earlier haunted him. The spirits will whisper warnings. An unsettling thought attempted to surface, but he pushed it back. It was stupid to believe that to be true.

Míngzé forced a small smile to his lips. “Let’s go, it has been enough for one day.” It was no lie that he was tired.

She didn’t mind the fact that he didn't want to tell her right now. Even she hadn't told him everything, because she just didn’t know what the other parts meant yet. The mountains were clear, but the rest not so much. So she hadn’t told him, she couldn't until she knew what they meant.

She could understand that he wanted to think about it and that he didn't even need to tell her if he didn't want to. What she didn't understand was his comment about when things were quieter. Yes, the festival had a lot of people, but it shouldn't be impossible to find a quiet place. But she didn't say anything. ”Yes, it has been quite a long day, let's go back.” She had enough to think about. Her gaze went to the pokemon that had still been following her and knew that she was going to take it home with her.
